About membean

Membean is a vocabulary program that uses tested methods to help students’ brains get better at retrieving information. Truly, one of the only ways to learn vocabulary is through memorization and application, and Membean does both. Students do exercises through the program that tracks their progress so that the new words they get are neither too challenging nor too easy.
What it tracks…
Membean starts tracking data the moment a student logs on. Teachers can see when a student visits their dashboard, starts a session, how long they spend in a session, if a student in a session is idle and for how long (dubbed “dubious minutes”), and how many words they have seen over the whole course of their time on Membean. This means that a junior year teacher is able to see their students’ progress from when they were freshmen in order to judge how well they have been learning, their training habits over time, and much more.
The program is also able to adjust for students with disabilities and for English Learners. There are various settings teachers can toggle on and off for the whole class or for individuals.
How it assesses…
Membean assessments are tailored to each student. It assesses them on the words they they know and some words they may have struggled with. Teachers are able to set how many kinds of questions to give the class or individuals. Teachers are able to see each students’ individualized test, their stats, as well as stats for whole class and progress over time. Teachers can also see flags for trouble spots in order to better adjust their lessons for students that may need extra help or may need to be more challenged.
